Earlier, mobile phones were used only for calling, receiving calls and sending messages but nowadays, there are so many apps available for us to use. In fact, we can also make digital financial transactions with our phones. Various apps provide us with various services, from making friends to giving beauty tips and what not! But what do you know about those apps which are a part of your phone which has your personal details?

Just recently, UC Browser was in the centre of a controversy and it was also being said for a long time that this is a spyware of Chinese agencies.

Now it seems that the Indian government has decided to take action against such apps which may be Chinese spyware or malware. 42 apps which were under suspicion have been blacklisted by the Indian government from iTunes and Google Play store. The defence personnel are advised not to use these apps by the government after it received information from intelligence agencies such as Research Analysis Wing (RAW) and National Technical Research Organization (NTRO).

This is what advisory committee stated,

“As per reliable inputs, a number of Android/iOS apps developed by Chinese developers or having Chinese links are reportedly either spyware or other malicious ware. Use of these apps by our force personnel can be detrimental to data security having implications on the force and national security.”

  14. CM Browser
  15. Mi Community
  16. DU recorder
  17. Vault-Hide
  18. YouCam Makeup
  19. Mi Store
  20. CacheClear DU apps studio
  21. DU Battery Saver
  22. DU Cleaner
  23. DU Privacy
  24. 360 Security
  25. DU Browser
  26. Clean Master – Cheetah Mobile
  27. Baidu Translate

However, Truecaller has issued a clarification regarding this,

“In response to certain reports, we would like to clarify that we are a Sweden based company. We are not sure why the app is on this list, but we’re investigating. Truecaller is not a malware, and all our features are permission-based and are disabled by default.”

If you have any of these apps in your phone, delete them.
